Historical Marker Survey

Volunteers Needed

One of the legacy projects of the Williamson County Historical Society is the placement of historical markers throughout the county. To date, there are over 250 markers.

Some of the markers were placed 30-50 years ago and are in need of repair. Early posts were made of concrete and are failing. Recently, the Caruther’s Cemetery marker fell to the ground and split. Other markers just need a good cleaning or to have vegetation trimmed back.

We are conducting a survey of the markers placed throughout the county to evaluate which markers need immediate attention and which ones to put on a repair list for the years to come.

To do this we need Williamson County Volunteers! Joe Grosson, who is a member of the WCHS and a Brentwood Historical Commissioner is coordinating this endeavor.  Thank you Joe!

If you would like to volunteer and spend an enjoyable morning or afternoon driving the byways of the county assessing historical markers, please contact Joe.
